Terms of Service

Last updated 6 September 2026. By using JSON Hero you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

What JSON Hero is

JSON Hero is an online tool for formatting, minifying, validating, viewing, searching and sharing JSON, at jsonhero.dev. Most of it runs entirely in your browser. Sharing and accounts are the parts that use our servers.

The editor and share links are free to use, and stay free. There is also an optional paid Pro subscription that raises limits and adds account features — see Pricing.

Accounts

An account is optional; the editor works without one. If you create one, keep your email account and any linked provider accounts secure — anyone who controls them can sign in as you. Tell us at hello@jsonhero.dev if you think your account has been misused.

One person, one account. Don't impersonate anyone or sign up with an address you don't control.

Paid plans

Pro is optional. It is billed monthly or annually at the prices shown on the Pricing page — in rupees for customers in India and US dollars everywhere else, with any applicable tax shown at checkout before you pay.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, so your account doesn't lapse. You can cancel at any time from your profile or by emailing us; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refund windows, how to ask for a refund, and how long one takes to reach you are set out in the Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

If a payment fails or is reversed, we may return the account to the free plan. We may suspend a paid account for fraudulent payments or chargeback abuse.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you paste or upload. You give us only the permission needed to run the service: storing a shared document so the link can serve it, and generating a preview image for it.

You are responsible for what you put in. Only upload content you have the right to, and that you are willing to have accessible to anyone holding the link.

Share links are public

This matters enough to say plainly: a share link is accessible to anyone who has it. There is no password and no access control. The id is random and effectively unguessable, but a link posted somewhere public can be found and indexed, and link previews reveal the opening of the document.

Do not share credentials, access tokens, API keys, personal data, or anything confidential. Shares are deleted automatically 7 days after upload.

Acceptable use

Don't use JSON Hero to:

Current limits: 100 KB per shared document, 30 shares per hour and 100 per day per visitor, and limits on how often sign-in codes can be requested. These may change.

Availability and changes

JSON Hero is offered as-is. We don't promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it — including shares and accounts — at any time. If we discontinue a paid feature you are subscribed to, we refund the unused part of your subscription — see the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these terms or put the service at risk, usually without notice where the issue is urgent.

No warranty

JSON Hero is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

In particular, JSON Hero can attempt to repair malformed JSON. That output is best-effort and may not match what you intended — check it before relying on it. Keep your own copies of anything important; a share is not a backup.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, JSON Hero and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the service — even if we were told such damages were possible.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why, and forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the app for anyone with an account. Continuing to use JSON Hero after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
